Meet our amazing Teachers

Our amazing instructors come from various backgrounds – engineers, certified teachers, masters in science and PHDs but they all have one thing in common – the passion for educating our youth. We view our robotics club not merely as a business but as a community centre that will make a positive difference in our children’s future.

I lived in Shanghai, China for 2 years and can speak some Mandarin. I enjoy spending time to teach kids subjects in science and technology. They are genuinely interested in knowing how things work. I use this energy to sugar-coat dry science and math concepts, such as fractions, decimals, relations, functions…etc. and motivate them to learn.

I also design and build commercial robots for the industry. Latest project is a Robot for Hospital to go room by room and sanitize using UV light. My passion is in software and programming. I enjoy spending hours on the computer to find a small error in my program and get it to run again. Other hobbies are camping, watching documentaries and traveling.

I learned to program at the age of 11 by making modifications for video games, and thus I can relate to the struggles that my students experience when trying to learn such advanced topics at a young age. I am in love with technology and the science behind it, and this really drives me to empower kids with the skills they need to tackle robotics and STEM. My absolute favourite feeling is seeing one of my student’s eyes light up once they’ve grasped a difficult topic or overcome a serious challenge, and I am very happy that I have the opportunity to see this every day.

Dorra - PhD

Dorra - PhD

Instructor

When the Canadian weather is clement Dorra is outside with her family taking pictures of stars and galaxies. On cold and rainy days, she can be found in the kitchen with her kids exploring DIY science projects.

Dorra loves sharing what she has learned with others and has tutored kids during her studies in Paris and Quebec. She has also volunteered in Toronto for various STEM related activities. Dorra is bilingual (French & English) and can teach in both languages!

Dorra has a PhD in Radiation Physics, a broad multi-disciplinary field that requires advanced knowledge in Atomic and Molecular Physics, Quantum Chemistry and Programming.

Currently, Dorra is a project manager at IBM for Eclipse OMR, a framework that would allow anyone to build a compiler runtime.

Sanaz - PhD

Sanaz - PhD

I mostly enjoy teaching children as I think I’m still a kid at heart! Based on experience, I know how a good teacher can impact a student’s overall view to life. I aim to create an environment based on inspiration, enthusiasm, rational thinking, and confidence. In my free time, I enjoy reading novels, watching movies, jogging and travelling. I also confess to being addicted to the web!

I Can also speak a bit of French! As someone who is passionate about the functional and helpful implementations that robotics can have on society, I find it crucial for the next generation to understand how it all works. As the digital age around us affects our lives more and more, helping kids understand the fundamentals of programming and robotics ensures that their skills set are more adapted to the modern world.

I make an effort to engage with each of my students on many different topics, developing a relationship with them that allows me to better explain more abstract concepts in an easier way.

The passion that I feel for the new opportunities that this field brings to the youth is transmitted in every single class that I teach, and I make sure to motivate my students constantly.

I have taught robotics and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) concepts at many outreach programs to students in the communit y as well as enjoy teaching, sharing, and growing through these opportunities. I have co-founded the VEX Robotics Team in the high school I used to attend for which I have over 2 years of experience competing, building and designing robots. Through robotics I got the chance to participate in over 20 competitions and travelling to California in 2014 and Louisville in 2015 to attend the World Championships for VEX Robotics. I enjoy 3D modelling in my spare time as well as designing and researching new concepts. In the future I would like to invent an automated device that can make a current task easier and more efficient.
